TURF, an initiative by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and
Industry (FICCI) is into its 5th edition and has been providing the
sports sector with key policy reforms, investment provisions, stimulating
sports developments and raising the standards of sports and physical education
in the country. TURF 2013 features Conference, Exhibition and Business to
Business (B2B) AND Business to Government (B2G) Meetings.
In its fifth installment of TURF 2013, FICCI invited New Zealand
to be part of this movement and both the nations joined hands together to work
towards a sports based developmental initiative. A MoU was signed between both
the countries represented respectively by FICCI and the Southern Institute of
Technology (SIT), NZ. The feat was achieved at the ongoing 5th
Global Sports Summit under the presence of the FICCI Sports Committee members, the
New Zealand High Commission dignitaries and amongst the present sportspersons
and representatives from the sports and youth affairs ministry, corporate
houses and the media.
The memorandum features an initiative which enables, 14
emerging sports pursuing children from underprivileged areas to enroll for a yearlong
diploma course in New Zealand. The course is being offered in partnership with
the John Wright Academy and the Southern Institute of Technology.
